The group of molecular genetics in Tor Vergata is led by Gianni Cesareni and Luisa Castagnoli.
The group projects are supported by an ERC advanced grant to work on muscle regeneration from a systems biology perspective.
Muscle regeneration is governed by a complex interplay between a dozen mononucleate cell populations that is triggered when the muscle is stressed by mechanical and chemical injuries or by genetic defects.
Our goal is to clarify this crosstalk in order to contribute to control and reverse the pathological conditions in aging, dystrophies and neuromuscular diseases.
In addition, our laboratory has a Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Unit that works both independently and in close contact with experimental biologists.
This database suite is part of Elixir, the European infrastructure for Bioinformatics.
